Aberystwyth is the perfect place to come to uni to study film. Some friends and I have just started our own production company called 'Aberandom Productions' and are just finishing the pre-production on our first feature 'Dude, Where's My Ring?' We have had so much help and any club on campus will help if possible. Everyone is friendly and i wouldn't be any where else to study film. It's fabulous! I and everyone else here loves it.

A big disappointment, unfortunately. The website makes it sound like a film school but there is a lot of spin just to bring in lots of students. In reality they are much, much more into theory - check out the staff bios. Claims to be one of the biggest film & TV depts in the UK but from a student point of view this mostly means really large class sizes. There is also no TV or film production to speak of in the area which is different in somewhere like Cardiff where there are lots of production companies. Even the Ffresh student film festival is moving away, which was one of the highlights of the year. If you want to become an academic then this course might work for you but look elsewhere if you want to make film/TV.

Be careful - way more theory than expected. Some of the practical courses are good, but be very clear what you're signing up for as Aber is a long way from anywhere. Also very large classes.

Amazing! What a place to study film!! I looked at lots and lots of differnet film courses and other universities but Aberystwyth was by far the best course and the best university to study at! Perhaps the only university to offer excellent practical elements within the film course. Not only is it an excellent place for the practical side of film, the theroy is taught by excellent lecturers who will help you along the way. In my opinion a great place to study film at university level

This is a good uni, but it depends what you want to get from your course. The film and t.v department focus more on the theory side of film and t.v rather than practical. You do learn practical skills like basic film making with Dv camcorders and editing, and studio production skills. But even then if practical is where you want to go i would advise getting more experience. Otherwise you do learn a lot and theory can be very interesting, especially looking at what other countries do. Te staff and pupils are friendly and are always willing to help. If you have a production there will always be willing students wanting to get involved, and the place is insperational!

This is just the best place to study film! We've had so much support with everything so far - both the company we've set up and the society. We really couldn't wish for anything better. I honestly couldn't imagine being anywhere else.
