School of the Arts Virginia Commonwealth University The school is a progressive and highly creative environment where visiting artists, critics, and theoreticians assist the internationally recognized faculty. The school is ranked as the best public university art school in the nation. BFA in Filmmaking or Photography At VCU photographers and filmmakers learn the visual, theoretical, and technical language of the disciplines. The department’s focus is photography and filmmaking as fine art. Both digital and antique processes are taught and used. The curriculum is a university education that includes work in the arts, humanities, and sciences. Graduates of the programs work as documentary, narrative, conceptual or experimental filmmakers or photographers. MFA in Filmmaking or Photography In the graduate program well-educated and talented individuals with art or non-art backgrounds create intelligent, sophisticated, and progressive still or moving pictures. Faculty members from various visual arts disciplines provide personal assistance and supervision. Graduate students are free to work in genres and processes of their choice.

Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond Virginia is (rated no. 6 under top MFA-master of fine arts- programs in the 2004 US News & World Report) and it has had a graduate film program for over 40 years and now has an undergraduate film and photo program. It is part of the School of the Arts which is the No. 1 public arts school in the country. You can get more info about it at www.vcu.edu I got a lot out of this place and would recommend anyone and everyone to this place. They're investing a lot into the film program from what I hear.
